Post Processing

These are the post processing software and hardware I use for photo and video

Apple Aperture 3
This is my digital asset management tool and primary editor for digital photos.
Nikon Capture NX
I use this for special editing needs. Now that I have Viveza, I find myself not using Capture NX much.
Apple Final Cut Studio 3
This is my primary video editor. I have just upgraded from FCS 2.

Apple Mac Pro
All editing happens on this machine. I have it configured as follows:
-Quad-core Intel Xeon "Nehalem" processor, 2.66 GHz
-16 GB 1066 MHz DDR3 ECC SDRAM
-160GB Intel X25-M Solid State boot drive (internal)
-Four 2TB 3Gb/s internal drives in RAID 0+1 configuration
-Two NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 each with 512MB memory
-4-port eSATA card for connecting external backup drives
-Mac OSX Snow Leopard running in 64-bit mode
Apple Cinema Display 30''
All editing happens using two of these displays simultaneously.
Nik Software Complete Collection for Aperture
This includes:
-Dfine 2.0 for noise reduction
-Viveza for light and color adjustments using U-Points
-Color Efex Pro 3.0 providing 52 photographic filters
-Silver Efex Pro for complete control of black and white photographs
-Sharpener Pro 3.0 for powerful sharpening

Neat Image plug-in for Aperture
I use this for noise reduction and sharpening. This is the best tool out there for noise reduction—I get some amazing results. The reason Neat Image is better than other tools is because they profile the noise characteristics of the sensors of every camera at every ISO.

Auto Pano Pro v2.0
I use this for panorama stitching and HDR images.
Helicon Focus
I use this to combine focus-bracketted images. It is great for macro photography and for landscapes. Focus bracketing allows me to increase the depth of field by taking multiple images that are focused at different depths and then combining them.

Genuine Fractals 6
I use this to up-res a photo usually for large format printing. I can print 20x30-inch and 24x36-inch photos from a good 12-megapixel image with superb results.
